The Peranakan Museum
The riches from south-east asia, married local women and gave birth to a breed of Peranakans. The Peranakans, which means "locally born", also refers to other communities that developed in Southeast Asia like the Chitty Melaka and Jawi Peranakans.
The Peranakan Chinese are descendants of Chinese traders who settled in Malacca and around the coastal areas of Java and Sumatra, as early as the 14th century. The male peranakan are known as Baba, and the females known as nonya. Oh ya, and to add this in, peranakan food is good!!! East Coast road and Joo Chiat (other than the sleaze) is rich in peranakan culture today! But i muz admit Peranakan wedding is the most "ma fan" of all, having watched "Sayang Sayang". Peranakans reading this pls dun get offended.. hee..
After Peranakan Museum was National Museum, a stones' throw away. Below are some pics taken at National Museum.
After the National Museum, the journey continues and the next stop is Fort canning park. Entered through the new Fort Cannig tunnel, the previous location of the National library.
Walked 1 round around the whole park taking photos. Spent 2 hours combing fort canning, walked back to esplanade, City hall mrt, Raffles city shopping center, Marina Sq, suntec city - it had a very tight security today man... sooo many police officers cordon off the area, already my legs were aching then, haf to go thru a detour!!! Bought food and drinks at carrefour, before leaving for Plaza Singapura to mit up with MJ. Had dinner at Kopitiam, shopped a while at PS, before calling it a day.. my legs are still aching now man..
This is a link for my whole album of photos taken today.... Enjoy!! =)
